New "Corporate Challenge" Relay Team Category to benefit Make-A-Wish Foundation (Guam chapter)

The XTERRA Guam is proud to partner up with the Make-A-Wish Foundation (Guam chapter) with the introduction of the new "Corporate Challenge" relay team category. A majority portion of the entry fees from this category will go directly to the local Make-A-Wish Foundation chapter. In addition, the corporations that field a team are challenged to use this event as a pledge drive to raise even more funds.

The relationship between the XTERRA Guam and Make-A-Wish is fitting." The XTERRA Guam Race Director learned about the Make-A-Wish Foundation and saw a great source of inspiration from the kids  the Foundation services – the Wish Kids." says Victor Camacho, Executive Director of Make-A-Wish Foundation Guam chapter. "These are all kids who suffer from life-threatening illnesses.  Their lives aren’t normal, they struggle everyday both physically and emotionally.  Their families share in their struggle." he added. "XTERRA races are very difficult, physically and mentally." says Eric Tydingco, XTERRA Guam race director. "But that is really nothing compared to the struggles that the Wish Kids and their families have to endure on a daily basis." Tydingco added. " The end goal for everyone is for health and return to a normal life. He (Tydingco) felt an opportunity was there for the taking, to have athletes compete in the race in honor and support of these Wish Kids.  The corporate team category would be created in an effort to challenge donors to compete in XTERRA and utilize their sponsorship to raise additional funds for the organization." says Camacho.

There will be a special trophy awarded to the top finishing "Corporate Challenge" team as well as to the team that raises the most funds for this worthy cause. XTERRA Guam is also negotiating with a local triathlon coach to offer training programs for the corporate teams. Individual partcipants won't be left out of this opportunity to help as the online race registration site will contain a link to make personal contributions to the charity organization. Details on registering for the Corporate Challenge are forthcoming. In the meantime, click the logo below to make a personal online contribution to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
